Want to know whether Shiftsmart provides flexible work opportunities or just hype? This Shiftsmart review will help you determine whether it’s the perfect platform to increase your income.
The gig economy is becoming popular for increasing income. Millions of people use gig economy apps to make money in their free time. Many gig economy apps are available that provide flexible jobs to gig workers.
Shiftsmart is a one-of-a-kind gig economy app.
Shiftsmart is not as popular as DoorDash or Lyft. Many people don’t know what it is, how it works, or whether it’s worth their time.
In this Shiftsmart review, I’ll cover everything you need to know before joining the platform— from its functionality to flexible work opportunities.
What is Shiftsmart?
Shiftsmart is a revolutionary labor-based app designed for modern workers. It connects companies with skilled workers to increase fulfillment, reduce turnover, and improve quality.
As an independent worker, you can find flexible jobs near you. You can find gig jobs across various industries, including retail, hospitality, emergency management, flex contact center, and healthcare.
According to Shiftsmart, it has over 3 million workers and millions of shifts. You can earn money by picking up job opportunities through a mobile app. You’ll get paid for completing jobs.
How Does It Work?
As an independent worker, Shiftsmart allows you to earn money by completing local shifts. Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Download the App and Signup
To get started, you must download the Shiftsmart app that is available on the Google Play Store and App Store.
After installing the app, the first step is to sign up. The signup process is easy and quick. You just have to provide your personal information like name, email, birthday, and phone number for contact. Also, you must share your location so they can find shifts near you.
To make your profile stand out, Shiftsmart recommends including:
- A clear photo to identify you and attract employers.
- Your educational background.
- Your latest job roles.
- Professional certifications
- When you’re available to work shifts.
- A short video to help them get to know you better.
You can edit your profile information anytime through the Shiftsmart app.
Step 2: Apply for Shifts
Once you complete the signup process, you can start applying for available shifts. You can scroll through the available shift opportunities and sign up for the ones that interest you.
You must complete the onboarding process for projects that interest you. Below available work opportunities, you’ll see a signup button. Once you click the button, it’ll guide you through the onboarding process. Each work project has its own onboarding process.
The onboarding process typically includes a few questions related to the job. Sometimes, you may need to complete a background check and/or drug screen depending on the role’s requirements.
Step 3: Complete the Work
Once you’ve completed the onboarding process for a job, you can begin working on the shift. You can choose when and how much you want to work. Shiftsmart gives you the flexibility to work on projects.
To complete shifts, you must check in and check out. You can’t check into a shift 30 minutes before the start time.
Here’s how to check in:
- Go to the Schedule tab of the Shiftsmart app.
- Select the remote shift you want to check in for.
- Click the Check-In button.
- Begin your shift.
Here’s how to check out:
- Go to the Schedule tab.
- Select the current remote shift you are working.
- Click the Check-Out button.
If you make any mistakes, you can always contact the support staff. Moreover, you will be automatically checked out if you stay on-site beyond your shift time and won’t be paid for extra work after that.
Shifts may be canceled if a customer’s needs change or they no longer need a shift filled. In that case, Shiftsmart will notify you through the app. Shiftsmart recommends workers check the app before going for the shift.
Shiftsmart understands that things may come up. For that reason, it allows you to cancel the shift up to 12 hours before it starts without affecting your reliability score. Too many late cancellations or no-shows will affect your ability to accept future shifts.
Step 4: Get Paid
Shiftsmart claims to pay its workers in days, not weeks.
After you complete your shifts, it undergoes a review process for approval. Once approved, they process the payment within 24 hours of shift completion. However, payment processing may take up to 7 days for roles like audits, inspections, and mystery shopping where quality review and photo validation are required.
The fund will be available in the app when your payment has been approved. You can withdraw your earnings via Stripe.
Shiftsmart doesn’t support popular payment methods like PayPal, Cash App, Zelle, or Checks.
You can instantly get your money for a $1.99 fee. Only allowed to use it once a day.
